Abstract

Skeletal class II combined with overgrowth of maxilla and undergrowth of mandible will be treated functional appliances with headgear immediately before growth spurt stage. Skeletal class III requries early treatment, surgical correction after
growth
will be considred.
1. Most functional appliances are useful for treatment of skeletal class II.
2. FR type II is very effective in early treatment of skeletal Class III.
3. In case of skeletal class III which FR III application time was passed, Bimler type C, EOA, or reverse twin block are effecitve.
4. Combined use of functional and fixed appliance will increase efficacy of orthodontic treatment and reduce treatment period.
